RODEL J. MERCADO is an all-in-one pack director, acting coach & teacher.He recently coveted the “OUTSTANDING SPECIAL EVENTS DIRECTOR” at the 2019 LEAF.Awards (Live Entertainment Arts ; Festival) and “BEST DIRECTOR FOR SPECIAL EVENTS” at the “31st Annual ALIW Awards”. Prior to this, he was nominated as “Best Director in New Concept Category” at the “28th Annual ALIW Awards”.His journey towards success started from a small seed. He was granted a theater scholarship from Dulaang PCU (Philippine Christian University) in 1994 and subsequently associated in professional theater companies in 1997. At a young age, he participated in Trainer’s Training Workshop under Mr. Alvin Gonzales & Mr. Buboy Espino. The module was relevant, not only in artistic training, but also in Corporate.He had a fifteen fruitful years in corporate journey as the Senior Operations Manager at SM Corporation and Vice President for Operation in Havaianas Philippines. But his dream to inculcate theater discipline never left him. It was his ultimate goal to be a vital part of other budding artistic dreams. This led him to establish his own theater & events production company. It was his ardent zealand enthusiasm to impart his knowledge to the next breed of actors in all industries. His previous memberships were Sining Pinagpala Theater Foundation, Peoples Theater Foundation and he is a founding member of Silly People’s Improv Theater (SPIT). He performed in several theater productions. He also had several appearances in TV commercials and soap operas at GMA 7 and ABS-CBN 2.He had a prestigious scholarship with ACTORS WORKSHOP FOUNDATION, where among his mentors were: Direk Leo Martines, Ann Villegas, Mia Gutierez and Direk Gina Alajar. He further wanted to improve his craft so he went to a higher level of mastery by joining Improvisation Master Class. It was conducted by a Hollywood Improvisation Master, Ed Reggi and the father of Silly People’s Improv Theatre, Gabe Mercado. After which, he joined a directing master class under the Program of Theater Actors Guild of the Philippines and University of Notre Dame, USA with the internationally recognized playwright and Director, Dr. ANTON JUAN. He finishedDigital Video Production & Digital Cinematography under Director Nap Jamir at University of the Philippines Film Institute. To top it all, he took Technical Directors Workshop under the best technical director in Japan, Mr. Koga Yuji (Butai Kantoku), at Sinag Arts Foundation, Japan Foundation & Philippine Educational Theater Association. He worked with local and international celebrities like SARAH GERONIMO, LEA SALONGA, ERIK SANTOS, DULCE, BITUIN ESCALANTE, FRECHIE DY, THE COMPANY, MATTEO GUIDICELLI, MAJA SALVADOR, ALISAH BONAOBRA, Ms. EARTH 2015 ANGELIA ONG, Ms. AIR 2012 STEPHANY STEFANOWITZ, GRETCHEN HO, VALERIE TAN, GUJI LORENZANA, STEVEN SILVA, AKIKO SOLON, JUNET HSIEH, LIN YU CHUN and LEE MIN-HO.
