Mr. Abu Bakar Yusof is currently the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Exporters Development) and Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation or known to most of us as MATRADE.
With nearly 30 years of service in MATRADE and a GLC experience in Khazanah National Berhad, Mr. Abu Bakar Yusof has a wealth of experience in international trade and export promotions which made him the crème de la crème leader to head and oversee the exporters development division.
His career highlights include serving for eleven (11) years abroad at MATRADE offices in Beijing, China and Seoul, South Korea, through which period he had the opportunity to further enhance his knowledge and skills and ultimately gain huge experience in international trade. Due to his strong dedication and vast experiences, he was appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Exporters Development) of MATRADE effective 25 December 2022. Recently, he was appointed as the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of MATRADE in August 2022, adding to his present portfolio as Deputy CEO.
His charisma as a leader shines when he oversees five (5) divisions in MATRADE namely Management Services, Export Promotion, Strategic Planning, Cross Borders and Exporters Development. Mr. Abu Bakar is indeed a team player that empowers others to unleash their potentials strategically.
A person with a strong empathy and compassion, Mr. Abu Bakar Yusof is a belie er in effective communication through engagements and information sharing. He values every engagement be it internal or external, in broadening his perspectives and in making informed decisions for the benefit of the business community and the country at whole.
